In our last episode of State of the Arts we profiled Marcia Jones, a Charlotte, NC based visual artist and educator. After stepping into her classroom and her home/ private studio you might wonder what inspires all that female centered work. In this episode we dig deeper into the theory behind the visual art. Marcia Jones explains Displaced Oshun Theory and the visual art she has created over the past decade; at the Unleashing the Black Erotic Conference hosted by College of Charleston’s Avery Research Center and African American Studies. Ms. Jones was just one of many scholars, activists, and artists at the two-day conference, filled with intellectual exchanges and reflections on gender and sexuality within the black culture in America and throughout the African diaspora.
